On the way home...

Driving home from Target I passed little roadside stand (you know the hot dog and sub type), they had an interesting sign up. I would have taken a picture but I was driving. The sign was for deep fried Twinkies and Oreos.

Yes folks you read that right. Deep fried Twinkies and Oreos. Deep fried.

Ummmm. Yeah........

I like me my fried foods but wow. Really? That just seems like a heart attack waiting to happen.

I wonder how many weight watchers points one of those suckers is.....

  1. At the state fair in South Carolina, they have not only fried twinkies and oreos, but fried snickers and pepsi. Talk about calories? Although how one fries pepsi is beyond me.

  7. The newest one I've heard of was battered and fried watermelon... not so sure I wanna try that one! Oreos, though...that sounds good... and frying twinkies has to be an improvement!

  10. Pepsi? How do you fry Pepsi?

CNN says fried Twinkies are about 425 calories each, about the same as a slice of apple pie with ice cream.

  13. I totally would have pulled over and tried the fried oreo. I would have seriously regretted it, as I can't eat ANYTHING fried anymore, but I really would have loved to taste it.

  14. I found this little article for you through a google search so you can.. enjoy.. other fried goodies, although to be honest I will probably never try any of these.

Also, try deep frying candy bars (Snickers, York Peppermint Patties, ect) because those are pretty tasty as well. Although, beware fried fruit because we tried that once and I'll definitely take a non-fried banana over a fried one every day of the week.

  15. Eww, eww, eww.

You just made my stomach flip-flop a bit, and not in a good way.

I just have to wonder at the things some people do. But, on the flip side, I'm really glad not everyone is exactly the same, you know?

  17. There was a food network tv show on a restaurant that does fry stuff. Twinkies, kit-kats etc etc etc. Forget the obvious health risks.....lets talk about the fact they probably charge 5.75 for a desert that costed all of .50cents!

  18. For the fried Pepsi/Coke, they actually mix it into a sort of cake batter before frying. I remember the first state fair I ate fried candy bars at...yum.

  19. Deep fried oreos are AMAZING...you can make them at home if you want...basically dip oreos into pancake batter and either cook them up in a frying pan with butter, or drop them into a fryer...

I'd rather eat fried oreos than a fried twinkie...hey Potandkettle...what are the WW points for some fried oreos????

  20. you should've stopped, they are a jersey boardwalk staple... and ohhhh so yummy!

  21. Wow. Ok, maybe a fried oreo is good now that Linda explained it. But still...

  22. Id say at least 21 points. I love love love fried oreos. They are evil and bad and oh so good.

  23. Every year at our fair we have fried everything from pickles to twinkies to veggies to mac & chesse...The list just keeps going. If its not french fries or fried mozzerella sticks, its gross.

  24. I appreciate the offer of the fried oreo, but it will definitely have to wait until after the baby. She does not tolerate me eating anything fried!

    :)

  25. I'm dying to try a fried twinkie! And since Oreos are my all time favorite ANYTHING, I'll take one of those, too, please. We're going to the fair on Friday, and if I find them, forget Atkins.

  26. Ok..I've tried both and honestly I didn't like either one and I do love some fried food. My advice? Stick to the funnel cakes.

  27. State Fair in Iowa! Fried coke, fried cheesecake on a stick, fried snickers, the whole bit!

    Gotta admit, not that great.

Although the cheesecake on a stick dipped in chocolate was well worth the wait in line.

  28. yep, a true southern treat, deep fried twinkies, never had fried oreo

  29. The best are the deep fried snickers! I have one (and only one) at our county fair every year. *drool*

The Twinkies are good too but I have never had the Oreo ones.
