Anyone? Anyone at all?

Anyone else ever feel yanked around by old Uncle Sam?

It's like a friggin roller coaster sometimes.

Good thing they have such a kick ass compensation package. (insert sarcasm here)

  1. Uh, yeah! All the time! We were supposed to be at our last duty station for 3 years (would have been a first in a long time). Yeah, right. 17 months after getting there, we moved.

  2. Sure, for years and years, in places like Vietnam, Korea, ect ect......but now that I am 71, I am thankful for the VA and the pension, yep, I am a double, no triple dipper, army pension, va disability, and social security. My wife, 9 years my junior, was able to quit work when I retired because she has Tricare, holy crap, life is good, all you have to do is get there.

  3. Yeah, if the Army hadn't changed its mind a week before the hubs was supposed to show up to his original unit, he would have returned from a 7 month deployment, we would have had the spring wedding we always wanted, and we would currently be living together....oh and I would have dental, since they don't want to cover me for some reason.

  4. Heh, right now is sure one of those times for me. Dealing with his sub is turning into a three ring circus, elephants included. Just when you think you know what's coming next, they whip out something else! Aargh! As much as I'm looking forward to shore duty, it also scares me. What if it's actually worse???

  5. I'm so sorry that you all have to go through this - I honestly am in awe of you, I don't know how you do it! And I'll feel a little less selfish the next time my husband has to go out of town for some firefighter training or something, because really? Why am I complaining at all?

    ((((hugs))))

  9. Ah, yes. Stonewall was supposed to get Capt. in July, but because paperwork got messed up somewhere above him, no promotion until September...oh wait, December...nope, they mean maybe January...definitely February at the latest. In the meantime, he leaves for deployment in a few weeks, but because of the promotion problem (plus a few other things) he's non-deployable in his current position, so they want to yank him out of the position he's been training in for the past year and a half and put him in a new position right before deployment. Great. And don't even get me started on the training he just spent the last 4 months completing, so he could get a promotion. Sigh.
