Lollipops and cow poop and a GIVEAWAY!

I never thought I would be that mom.

And by that mom I mean the mom that doesn't want her kid eating food coloring crap. {or rather a lot of it, I'm down with some here or there, its life people.} Here's why I find it amusing that I'm now that mom....

I'm pretty sure my kids have eaten cow poop.

Yup I'd put money on it. {And in case your wondering we live on a farm, not on base.}

My kids have probably, in their three years of living here, eaten cow poop but I try my darnedest to avoid food coloring. That may seem odd but hey, cow poop is all natural, that's more then I can say about food coloring.

Dash-1 has severe food allergies and like most kids with severe food allergies he's also a tad food sensitive. Give him too much food coloring and the kid runs around like a crazy man. I. Mean. Crazy.

Especially delightful when grocery shopping at the commissary on payday, while running the retiree gauntlet.

But I didn't want to be that mom. Now this "that mom" is the mom who makes her kid eat weird crunchy health food crap that makes all the other kids at snack time wrinkle their noses and dread the day that he brings in cupcakes for the class. No. No I did not want to be that mom.

{No offense if you are that mom, nothing personal, but my kids don't want to eat your cupcake and well, quite frankly neither do I.}

So what do I feed them?

Well they do eat stuff with food coloring I just have to take into account how much and what time of year it is {seasonal allergies can flare food sensitivities, see you all are learning something from this} but I have been trying lately to swap alternative foods in and yucky ones out.

So I wanted to share a good food find with you all, especially you ABW if your reading this, these are Organic lollipops by Yummy Earth. I know I know organic lollipops, my kids love the organic gummy bears too, I used to scoff at organic foods {"those pesticides will make them stronger!"} but these are worth it.

They have NO FOOD COLORING, they are GLUTEN FREE, made in PEANUT FREE and TREE NUT facilities, no corn syrups and are USDA certified organic.

Any they taste like candy. Real candy, not wheat germ.

Impressive no?

I was hoping I could send a sweet email to the yummy earth people and get a giveaway but, sigh, no go {but they did say thanks for the kind words} BUT my sweet mother sent up a box of yummies for the boys and guess what's in it for one lucky reader?

One of the dash brothers who will fit in the box! No I'm kidding.

I'd have to buy a bigger box and postage would be a bitch.

Anywho I'm giving away 2 bags of 15 lollipops! {30 total for you slow ones}

I know I know its not a sony reader or a dash brother but come on, those of you with kids, or if your a teacher, or shoot if you just like candy, will love these things. Really, my kids can't get enough of them.

So if you want some yummies
- leave a comment {for one entry}
- follow {for another}
- blog about it {for one more}
- twit it {for yet another}

The giveaway will be open for a week till Tuesday January 26!

And again... don't forget about the Valentine's Day swap sign up!

Jan 6 pic and QUITE THE FIND!

My mom has a thing about English candy, more specifically their chocolate. Apparently there is some difference between English and American chocolate taste wise. Beats me. I think her and my sister are kinda weird on this. But then again I prefer coca cola to pespsi.

My point is... we all have preferences.

Anywho every holiday that involves candy {which in my house is quite a few} she always orders a crap ton of English candy for us.

I don't really get it to be honest. It cost her an arm and a leg and quite frankly I'm cool with a $2.39 bag of peppermint patties, but my brother and sister like it so I guess I'm along for the ride.

Until.

This baby came along.This is my picture for today. Yes I'm aware its a candy bar and the fact that I've not only put a picture up of it and now am devoting a whole post to it probably makes me a fat fat fatty fat as the wise Glenn Beck would say.

But. Its quite wonderful.

Its a candy bar version of a cadbury egg. Chocolate on the outside yummy cadbury creme on the center. Have you ever heard of such a thing and why don't we have them here?!

{Is this our punishment for the whole revolution thing back in the day? If so lets try to work things out jolly ol' brits, no reason to be bitter.}

So here's my Jan 6 pic of the day.... right before I ate it.

another halloween bites the dust

Well halloween 2009 is over. Trick or treating last night, even in the rain, went well and the boys had fun. Flyboy had to carry a certain little komodo dragon on his shoulders for a bit but irregardless they all had a blast.

So much fun that I've tossed in a picture. And I'm actually in it! Although in the interest of full disclosure your getting a side view of me because it was the most flattering. Yes I'll be totally honest sometimes I pick out the pic that looks best of me and not the kids. Those little boogers always look cute. And skinny. Damn the young!
Oh and I know dash-2 looks like a dinosaur but trust me... he's a giant lizard.... wearing his uncles old dinosaur costume. Don't tell him he's a dinosaur or he might eat you. As for the astronaut, that's his third year with the same exact costume, just made bigger by grandma.

Really folks, no one out there thought I made the costumes did they? Clearly that would make you a new reader.

One day that boy will be going to space. And all of you can say, "I knew him when he was an itty bitty boy named dash-1. He's that brilliant boy that made up the word butt nostril."

Obviously his brilliance can not be tamed.

In other halloween news, obviously I've turned into an old fart. The giant hoards of obnoxious teenagers drove that fact home for me.

Here's a few of the mrs.' takes on halloween:
- If you are old enough to wear a slutty (insert whatever here, nurse, cowgirl, prisoner, etc) costume you are to old to trick or treat.

- If you are going to go to someones door and beg their candy at least go to the effort of putting on a damn costume. But not the slutty whatever costume. Have some damn self respect.

- I'm sorry but trick or treating, in my opinion, is an activity that is geared more towards kids. That being said, all you obnoxious adults out there who are "supervising" your older kids while smoking, drinking, and collecting candy yourself (yes yes I actually saw this) try not to knock over little kids who have been dreaming of nothing more for the past month. That goes for your "kids" and for you.

That just about covers it.

Again... all in all lots of fun and trust me, the countdown till next year has begun, although dash-1 was singing Jingle Bells in the car today so apparently we are moving right on to Christmas.

Look what I found!

Sorry for the lack of posting and commenting. I'm alive really. I'm just on my last leg. I've been under the weather, you know the kind where you just lay on your bed with your head hanging over the edge waiting for the earth to swallow you whole?

Yeah that kind.

And since flyboy is doing what he does best, flying, not to be dramatic, but it really is taking all that I have to get my kids fed and watered. This is really when you miss not living close to family. I am not to proud to admit that my kids have watched a fair amount of tv this week and eaten a fair amount of cheese slices. But, they are alive. And I have still taken them to school, karate, the doctors, given them a bath daily. See, I'm not a total slacker mom.

Anywho. Dash-1 is on an orange juice kick. I mean really, its like crack for him, he wakes asking for it and follows me around all day trying to get another fix. I don't mind too much, I get him the stuff with calcium added so I feel like its win win. And with the exception of the day he drank an entire carton (flyboy didn't realize I water it down. A LOT) I can stretch it out.

And if your wondering, there is a point to this besides his love of oj.

So after languishing without his oj for a few days the boys and I headed to wally world to get the kid his stash. As I was checking out what did I spy sitting near the register looking oh so sweet and perfectly pluckable?
These babies. These delightfully delicious sweet treats that only make a brief appearance once a year. They must be enjoyed. Curse eating well and counting calories. You only have a limited amount of time to enjoy them.

Halloween candy doesn't really impress me, Christmas candy doesn't either (ok the cookies cripple me but the candy doesn't phase me), Valentine candy is just eh, but Easter candy is my weakness. Apparently even when I feel like poop.

Not only is it GREAT for a sweet tooth but it also means that spring is more then just a distant dream. It has to come sometime. And while I wait for it, I have these to keep me occupied.

Now once these show up on the shelves, I might just die from sheer delight.

Upon seeing Loqi's comment I realize not all maybe aware of these little delights. They are little eggs with dense marshmallow (not fluffy marshmallow that would be disgusting) and then a hard candy coating. DELICIOUS but apparently an acquired taste. And take my word, blue is the best color.
