My new love in life

H.O.L.Y P.O.O.P

If I go days without a post, which since becoming a mom of three happens fairly regularly, it was because I was sleep deprived, constantly dealing with someone of the short stature variety, wiping someones butt, doing laundry, you know... mom stuff.

Well no more.

Now if it's quiet around here this is the reason:

I'm in the kitchen, hiding in a corner eating one of these bad boys.

Just to clarify, I'm not hiding cause I'm ashamed, I'm hiding because I don't want to share.

I picked up a couple of these at the commissary - sidenote- I know are you as shocked as I am? A new product at the commissary! Aren't they normally a year or two behind the curve? - and let me tell you..... these puppies are slap-your-momma-good.

Though if a dash brother slaps me it ain't gonna end well. {I'mjustsayingthankyouverymuch}

Seriously though, these things are wicked awesome.

Wicked awesome enough I'm blogging about it. And no one sent me any for free. {Yooo hooo Dole, if you'd like to send me some I'm cool with that!}

Each pack is two little cups with its own whole wheat granola so I can tell myself its kinda healthy. I mean it is fruit and granola.

And don't be a hater and leave a comment about the sugar or whatnot and how its not really healthy, please, I haven't slept for longer then 2 1/2 hrs at a time in close to a week - I. need. this.

On the package they recommend heating it up, DO IT. It makes it all warm and gooey like an apple pie, and what the package doesn't tell you.... add some vanilla ice cream, just a tiny scoop and then its REALLLLLY good.

Slap-your-momma-AND-your-daddy good.

Not that I encourage the slapping of parents around here. Just the eating of these things.

your jealous arent you?

I did something fabulous today. Really it rivaled a pedicure it was that good. Hang on for the exciting news.....

I went to the grocery store. ALONE. Well I had the littlest one with me but he doesn't talk back, run away, or toss items in the cart so really its all the same.

I had to go for my postpartum visit, now the pap smear part was not nearly as exciting as a pedicure but if it meant grocery shopping in relative peace I'm all over it.

Now those of you out there with older kids, especially more then one, understand where I'm coming from. Grocery shopping with all the kids in tow can become quite the workout. Both physically and for your sanity. And usually I always take them with me, I mean really if flyboy isn't around am I really going to pay someone to watch my kids while I grocery shop?

Hardly, I'm far to cheap. And asking for assistance isn't so much a strong suit. So usually we all go. And they aren't horrible its just a bit different.

Kinda like a freight train is different from a prius.

This time is was so quiet, so calm, I was able to actually look at the back of packages. Did you people know they print stuff back there? You can actually compare foods? No one poked holes in my hamburger buns, no one tried to roll my tomato like a bowling ball, no one gave me their opinions on turkey versus pork. Nothing, nada, zilch, zip. It was just me, my thoughts, and my coupon container.

And my sleeping baby.

I don't think I can really convey how AMAZING it was, those who don't have kids, you'll understand one day and those who do have kids, your seething with jealousy aren't you?

And those of you with little cute cuddly babies.... just... you... wait...

2mth appt, sidenotes, retirees, and being "that mom"

I was "that mom" today. Of course the more and more I go thru life I'm coming to the realization that I'm usually always "that mom".

And for those of you who aren't in the know, "that mom" is the mom with the semi-crazed children who often looks mildly flustered.

Dash-3 had his 2 mth apt (he has another week and a half till he's really 2 mths but hey you go when you go) and then dash-1 had a follow up apt so we were at the hospital for close to two hours. How long can small kids behave at the doctors (or anywhere for that matter) let me clue you in.... two hours is about an hour and some past the mark.

oh side note! (my children's lack of attention is rubbing off on me)

Guess who is 11 lbs 4 oz and a whooping 24 inches? And smiling real smiles, not just fart smiles?
If you guessed this little cutie you would be correct.

He is long and lean, by far our longest child, in fact he's almost three inches longer then both his brothers were at this point. Perhaps there will be a dash brother on the basketball court.

Any who the point to my ramble. So we did the doctors, then we hit the px, then we grabbed lunch, then we hit the commissary. And I was that mom. And there were moments that they were those kids.

And then I met a lovely retiree at the commissary who made me feel better.

Oh another side note, its come to my attention that there are two kinds of retirees at the commissary.

Those who make nasty faces at us moms wrangling kids, often without another parent around to give us a break.

Yes our kids might be loud, yes they might be "those kids" from time to time, but WE ARE TIRED, cut us a little slack. And I've also noticed that those are the same people who cart hog the aisle. Sorry that was a side note in a side note.

And then the other retirees are the ones who smile and say very grandmotherly (or grandfatherly) "don't worry, they are little ones, they are being good, I remember those days" etc.

Well I came across both sets today. The first annoyed me because I couldn't see over the baby seat in the cart so I might have hit their cart. Hey I apologized.

But the other retiree more then made up for it. Dash-2 darted out of the aisle and almost became a cart casualty, he very patiently stood there while dash-2 was frozen in place and I tried pulling him with me to the line. And then the man said, "I don't know how my wife did it while I was away."

HALLELUJAH!

A retiree who remembers that back in the day they were in our shoes.

So yeah, today I was "that mom" and there were times when my kids were "those kids" but I'm working on not being so hard on myself and on my kids. There will be those who look at me with disgust and those who look at me with the ability to remember when (or pity, I'm cool with pity if it means they wont call cps).

With three of them and one of me, being "that mom" is becoming a permanent state. But you know what? Motherhood still rocks.
